David J. Bearss, PhD

Co-Director, Center for Investigation Therapeutics

David Bearss, PhD, is co-director of the Center for Investigational Therapeutics at Huntsman Cancer Institute. He is a member of the Imaging, Diagnostics, and Therapeutics Program.

He researches small molecule drug development, genetic model systems in drug discovery, and translational research focused on cancer drug development.

Bearss is an expert in the development of new cancer therapies. He served as chief scientific officer at SuperGen Inc, a drug development company that specializes in the discovery and development of novel cancer therapies. He also served as founder and chief scientific officer at Montigen Pharmaceuticals.

Bearss earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a PhD from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center, San Antonio.
