Richard Wiggins, III, MD

Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Radiology Department of Oncology, Huntsman Cancer Institute

Richard H. Wiggins, III, MD, works in the Departments of Radiology, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Utah. There he serves as director of imaging informatics and as the medical administrator of the picture archiving communication system (PACS) and as the director of radiology ITS. Wiggins specializes in imaging informatics and head and neck neuroradiology. He works with neuro-oncologists, neurosurgeons, and the oncologic head and neck surgeons at Huntsman Cancer Institute, in addition to assisting with imaging informatics.

After receiving his doctorate from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston, Wiggins completed an internship in general surgery and then a research fellowship in neuroradiology/ENT imaging at the University of Florida College of Medicine; a diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and a diagnostic neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Utah.

Wiggins presents and publishes on the topics of radiology and informatics, including reviews, books and book chapters, and original articles online and in print. He acts as editor and a reviewer of numerous scientific journals, and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Digital Imaging.
